2026 Summer Camp · Session 2 Day 17

피아노와 군대,
그리고 마지막 발표 🎹🎖️

JC After School · Coquitlam, BC · August 26, 2026 (Wed)

We have to say it plainly: we are really going to miss our JC Summer Camp 2026 students. Today held the last two student presentations of the summer — Minwoo on the piano, Luho on the army — and both of them were wonderful.

🎹 “How to Play Piano” from Minwoo

Minwoo led the class with a lesson on how to play piano, and he came prepared. His poster carried the staff, the note names, the keyboard laid out letter by letter, the styles of piano and the styles of music — and, in his own handwriting, the actual advice: “How to play piano is never give up and keep doing it.”

He spoke well — a clear voice, and real communication with his audience: asking questions, inviting opinions, waiting for answers. He was enthusiastic, he knew his subject, and he was visibly joyful about sharing it with everyone. Great job, Minwoo 👏

The presentation came with a full package of worksheets — challenges and vocabulary building pitched at every grade level in the room, so nobody sat out. Then everyone went to the piano to try it.

🎖️ The Army, Navy & Air Force from Luho

Luho gave a great presentation today too. He prepared it with his heart — the army and S.W.A.T. — and it was genuinely informative. He laid out the army, the navy and the air force in a way that helped everyone connect the new material to what they already knew, and then build on it.

He brought the ranks in and set them along the ledge — two chevrons, chevrons with a maple leaf, three chevrons, a crown — so the class could see how the structure he was describing actually looks on a shoulder. His worksheet package followed the same idea: military vocabulary, and colouring pages for the youngest ones.

“I learned a lot from each of these well-researched presentations that the students gave. I haven't had time to give feedback about every single one, but each one is equally deserving — and I am hopeful that the leadership, the interaction, and the joy of sharing knowledge and interests was an uplifting experience for everyone.” — Teacher Diane

💌 A Letter, Both Ways Parent & teacher

From Minwoo's mother

“민우에 대한 좋은 피드백 정말 감사합니다. 진심으로 고맙게 생각합니다.

썸머캠프를 이렇게 잘 이끌어 주시고, 개구쟁이 아이들과 멋진 추억을 만들어 주셔서 감사드려요. 그동안의 수고와 보살핌에 정말 감사합니다. 😊❤️”

From Teacher Diane

“Thank you so much, Mama, for your feedback. 💕 Our heartfelt gratitude goes to you and the other parents, and to each of the amazing, unique, curious and adorable students who joined us this summer. They were a great group to work with and to teach.

Your son, Minwoo, brightened every day with his cheerful personality and good energy as soon as he came in the door. ❤️ And all the students were very adored by us for their unique characters and for the earnest effort they put into their own learning — not only academically, but also in learning to get along and work together.

I anticipate that this summer has impacted them positively in their self-esteem, their interpersonal maturity and their personal competencies, as much as it has given them an academic edge they will need in the years ahead. We hope they keep coming anytime, and we are very happy that they enjoyed their summer with us. ❤️”

Eight weeks of science, math, writing and presentations — and what we will remember is the group.
