Thank you, everyone, for waiting—here are Friday’s photos. 💛 It was the finale of our week devoted to asking and answering questions. The children immersed themselves in literacy activities that strengthened vocabulary, grammar, spelling, speaking, and writing. They took the six questions from our classroom wall and turned them into stories of their own on paper. 🗯️

🗯️ The Big Six Six questions return to the wall

We began at the wall with the six big questions: Who? What? Where? When? Why? How? Each speech bubble included a Korean translation so every student could follow along. Beneath them, the children added the answers they had created, one by one. 💬

📋 Build a Sentence Filling all six spaces

Next came the building stage. Each child received a grid with six spaces—Who / What / Where / When / Why / How—and added handwritten sentence strips to every row. “Someone played piano … under the desk … because they were bored … quickly.” Once the six answers came together, they formed a tiny story. 💡

🖊️ “What Happened?” Stories on the whiteboard

Our big creative question for the week was “What happened?” The children wrote short stories on the whiteboard and added their own illustrations: Jua’s eight o’clock, Minwoo’s midnight, Chloe’s “Ha ha ha,” and Loha’s dinner time. One question inspired many completely different stories. 🎨

Then came the week’s final project: a folded mini storybook. Each of the six questions received its own page, and the book ended with each child’s creative answer to “What happened?” They drew covers, folded pages, and signed their names—becoming true young authors. ✍️

📝 The Older Students Quotation marks, reported speech, and story writing

The older students took the lesson one step further. They completed grammar worksheets on quotation marks and reported speech, then began a book project containing a complete original story. As they refined their sentences, they referred to the tense charts on the wall—including past, present, and future perfect continuous forms. 📚

As always, the older children helped the younger ones. They guided small hands holding pencils and pointed out letters one at a time—one of our favorite sights at JC After School. 🤝

🫐 Snack Break Blueberries and witch fingers

After all that writing, it was time for a sweet break. We served blueberries 🫐 and crispy cone-shaped corn snacks. Before eating them, the children placed one on each fingertip to make “witch fingers” 👐 and burst into laughter. 😄

🍛 Lunch Curry tteokbokki and croquettes

Lunch was steaming curry tteokbokki 🍛 with golden fried croquettes. The children collected their own plates and carried them to the table, and our hungry campers emptied them in no time. 😋
